Black Sea Coast
The coastal area of Bulgaria is situated on the Black Sea’s western coast, the length being 378 km in length of which approximately 130 km are beaches. Tha Stara Planina mountain range which divides Bulgaria, slopes down to the coast at Cape Emine, dividing the coastline into a southern and northern part. The northern coast features rocky headlands where as the southern areas are known for their wide sandy beaches.
To the north are the popular tourist towns of Varna, Balchik, Albena, Kranevo, Kavarna and Golden Sands. The popular southern coastal destinations are Burgas, Sunny Beach, Nesebar, St. Vlas and Sozopol. Other less known, yet beautiful areas are St. Konstantine, Byala, Obzor, Primorsko, Kamchia and Chernomorets.
Varna
The largest city on Bulgarian Black Sea Coast is Varna (the third largest city in Bulgaria, also known as the sea capital), located on the northern part of the coast, it has one of Bulgaria’s international airports and is a major port. The Sea Garden is the oldest park in the city and contains an open air theatre where performance can be see throughout the year, an aquarium, a dolphinarium, the Nicolaus Copernicus Observatory and Planetarium, a children’s amusement park plus many more.
Varna nightlife is some of the best in the country, with restaurants catering many national and international dishes, bars, cafes, nightclubs, many attractions to suit every taste.

Burgas
Another big city is Burgas, located on the southern coast at the eastern farthest tip of the Stara Planina mountain. Burgas has 3 lakes, Atanasovo, Bourgas and Mandra lakes.
Like Varna, Burgas has become a popular tourist destination for foreigners and Bulgarians alike, vibrant nightlife, a huge variety of restaurants, bars and cafes, theatres, an international airport, one of the largest ports in the country, plus many more.
